I’m going to the gym now for quite some years. Fitness is what I love to do and it kind of became a standard factor in my life. In this blog I will tell you about my fitness journey and what I find important in the gym.
I started out going to the gym because I wanted to become fitter. I started out learning everything by myself. Seeing what machines are for, seeing other guys do exercises and of course by just trying it out myself. Of course, there is also a lot to learn from the internet. At first I was going 3 times in the week, just doing full body exercises. When I moved to Haarlem I started to take it more seriously and moved to a split schedule and going to the gym 5 times a week. I now do a split training with push (chest, triceps, shoulders), pull (back, biceps, abs), legs, push, pull.
I also started to watch what I was eating, because I didn’t get the results I wanted. It turns out, that is very important for your results and also very hard haha! I love good food and of course I love all the bad food as well (chocolate, candy, you name it =P). But slowly I’m seeing changes, in a good way! They say it’s 70% about food and 30% about exercising. Too bad haha!
Now fitness is a part of my life. It’s part of my routine and I wouldn’t want to go without out. I feel bad when I missed a workout or when I didn’t eat as well as I wanted. Of course, you can cheat once in a while but it’s all about balance. And also, because I already build up my strength, I don’t want to lose that. So it’s important for me to keep working on it, other wise it would be for nothing and that’s not really motivating!
Now, I’m training at TrainMore in Haarlem. This gym is amazing and helps me with my fitness goals. It’s a modern urban gym with very new equipment. There are parts with free weights, benches, machines, squat racks and of course cardio equipment. There is also an area where you can do your ab exercises on the floor. On top of that they have Boutique Studio’s which are very cool. I love the High Studio for example, where you can do your HIIT (high intensity interval training) or just work on your endurance on the curved treadmills. There is also a studio for boxing and yoga.
My next goal is to change my workouts up a bit and to improve my strenght. I do a lot of the same exercises, but I also want to do new ones to active my muscles in a new way. Every second push and pull day, I try to do other exercises than to first push and pull day so I can switch it up a bit. Also I want to be better with eating haha, but that’s the story of my life =P
